Privacy Policy

Last updated 4 October 2026

Luminette has no account and no advertising. Your photos stay on your iPhone and in your own iCloud, and are never sent to us. We only see anonymous usage statistics and crash reports.

Who we are

Luminette is made by Above AS, Norway. Above AS is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at ivan@aboveapps.no.

Your photos

Photos you take are stored on your iPhone. When a roll has been developed, its photos, the date they were taken, the town (if you allow it), captions and your albums are kept in your private iCloud using Apple’s CloudKit, so they appear on your other devices. This data belongs to your Apple Account. We cannot see it.

If you are not signed in to iCloud, everything stays on the device.

Permissions

You can change any of these at any time in the iOS Settings app.

Film and purchases

Film is bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment, and we never receive your payment details. The app reads your purchase history from the App Store to know how much film you have.

To make sure film isn’t counted twice, the app keeps a count of the rolls you have loaded, together with a random device identifier, on your device and in your iCloud. This identifier is not linked to your identity and is not sent to us.

Analytics and crash reports

Luminette uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics from Google to understand how the app is used and to fix crashes. This is based on our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and making it better.

They collect what happens in the app (for example that a roll was loaded, a photo was taken, a darkroom session finished or film was bought), device model, iOS and app version, language, approximate country, a random app identifier, the random serial number stamped on your camera and, if the app crashes, a crash report. The serial number is drawn at random the first time you open the app, kept in your iCloud so it stays the same on all your devices, and lets us find your data if you contact us for help. They never receive your photos, captions, album names or town names. The data is not used for advertising, and the app does not use Apple’s advertising identifier or track you across other apps. Crash reports are kept for up to 90 days and analytics data for up to 14 months.

This website

This website is hosted on Firebase Hosting by Google, which keeps standard server logs, such as IP address and browser type, for security. The site uses no cookies and no tracking.

Who we share with

We do not sell or share your information. The only companies involved are Apple (iCloud, the App Store and the town lookup) and Google (analytics, crash reports and website hosting). Google may process data outside the EEA under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Children

Luminette is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict how it is used. Since your photos live on your device and in your iCloud, you can delete them directly: in the app, by deleting the app, or under Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Storage.

For anything else, contact us. You can also complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet).

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
