Luminette
Terms of Service
Last updated 4 October 2026
Your photos are yours. Film is bought through Apple. Use the camera kindly, and keep copies of the pictures you can’t bear to lose.
1. The agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Above AS, Norway (“we”), the maker of Luminette. By using the app you accept them.
2. The app
Luminette is a camera for iPhone. Each roll has eight exposures, and you develop the prints yourself in the app’s darkroom. We may change, improve or remove features over time.
3. Film and purchases
- Three rolls are included for free.
- More film can be bought in the app, either as single rolls and packs, or as the Collector’s Cabinet, which gives unlimited film for as long as Luminette is available.
- Prices are shown in the App Store before you buy. Apple handles payment and refunds under its own terms.
- Film does not expire, has no cash value and cannot be transferred. Purchases are tied to your Apple Account and can be restored in the app.
4. Your photos
You own the photos you take with Luminette. We claim no rights to them. You are responsible for what you photograph and for respecting the privacy and rights of others.
5. Fair use
Please don’t copy, modify or reverse engineer the app (except where the law allows it), try to get around the film counter, or use Luminette for anything unlawful.
6. Our content
The app, its name, design, films, bundled images and story belong to Above AS and are protected by law.
7. Storage and backups
Photos are stored on your device and in your iCloud, which depend on Apple’s services. We can’t guarantee they will never be lost, so keep copies of the photos that matter to you.
8. Liability
Luminette is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses or lost photos, and our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid for film in the last 12 months. This does not limit liability for gross negligence or intent, or any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract.
9. Apple
If you got Luminette from the App Store, the following also applies:
- These terms are between you and Above AS, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Luminette or its content.
- Your licence to use the app is limited to Apple devices you own or control, as allowed by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for maintenance and support.
- If the app fails to conform to a warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price. Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for any claims relating to the app, including product liability, legal compliance and intellectual property claims.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US government embargo, and are not on any US government list of restricted parties.
- You must follow any third-party terms that apply when using the app, such as those for iCloud.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
10. Changes and ending
We may update these terms and will change the date at the top when we do. You can stop using Luminette at any time by deleting it. We may end access if these terms are seriously broken.
11. Law
These terms are governed by Norwegian law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
